got my canon powershot a610 back in the mail today! and it works now, free of charge. yippee. now back to my regularly scheduled flickring.

first day on the job

today was a little unnerving.
started off okay. got to the office round 9 after an hours worth of traffic. got in the elevator and habitually hit 7. took the passing of a few floors before i realized my new floor was actually 6. got off on 6 and felt very strange to be starting my day there. resisted an immediate urge to get back in the elevator and go home. the rest of the day wasn't too bad. the plasma crew took me out to lunch. they're a sociable bunch. i should get along with most everyone. there are definitely some strong personalities here. everyone speaks their mind. i'm lucky to be working with a seasoned crew of people. most everyone carries some serious street cred with them. Dennis Harper is the new DD. We're going to be wingmen in this. He's been in the industry for over 20 years. He did this old game called 'tubin' as well as 'primal fear', the stop motion animated fighter.
there's still some hate going on from the platform team. it seems that now that i'm on the 'other side' they're reluctant to invite me to meetings... think people are just messin with me for the most part though. stayed late to review some more docs and get a headstart on the Black & white 2 expansion pack req's.

My new cubicle

this monday i'm starting my new job as an associate producer here at ea. moving outta my comfy office with sliding door and into a cramped cube. surprisingly i've been able to fit all my shit in here. shouldn't be too bad. definitely going to be interesting working with a whole new team of people. i spent the past 3 years building up a team under me and getting to know each and every one of them very well. now i'm working with an entirely new group of people each with their own idiosyncracies and pre-existing methods. moving into a producer role has me closer to the business side and closer to the customer which is where i've always wanted to be. i hope to learn as much as i can through this new venture.

Skirt steak marinade

I know what it looks like, but it really isn't what you think it is. It's a marinade. Chipotle peppers, oranges, onions, cilantro, marjoram, rosemary, garlic. Marinade flank steak for an afternoon, toss on a grill then serve on tortillas with an avocado salsa!
